The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is a legal entity governed by public law with its own legal personality (according to article 1 section 2 of Institute of Science and Technology Austria (federal law). ISTA is represented by President Martin Hetzer. The Science Education branch is represented by Vice-President Gaia Novarino.
According to article 2 section 1 of ISTA federal law, ISTA is dedicated to basic research and graduate education in the natural and mathematical sciences. It is committed to conducting world-class research in an international state-of-the-art environment. In addition, ISTA supports measures to promote understanding of science and the development of innovative approaches to science education. These measures are bundled in VISTA Science Experiences.
